Hey Tim
Just wanted to say thanks for sending out the Retro Deluxe! It's a great
sounding amp and is my favorite type of amp as well. Reminds me of a tweed
Fender with a fuller and tighter bottom end and clearer top. Very sweet. Has
some of that AC30 vibe to it as well in the way it distorts. As soon as it got
here everyone was standing around waiting for me to pull it out and plug the
thing in and were blown away when they heard it. Joel Soyffer, a guy I share the
studio with and who is an awesome mixer and engineer who has mixed some big
records etc.. said you weren't getting it back!
We're finishing up the next Hilary Duff record here so I'm going to try and get
it on there if we need any last minute guitar parts. I took it next door to an
amp repair guy called the Rockn'Roll Doctor. He's actually from Ohio as well and
his name is Steve Dikun. He works on a lot of great guitarists amps and does the
repair work for Andy Brauer as well as his own mods/amps. I could tell he liked
it from the start because he got all excited but he doesn't like to show it much
so later on when other people were in the shop and raving about it the amp he
opened up more and copped to the fact that he was pretty impressed. He's an
opinionated guy and doesn't like many amps so that impressed me. I could hook
you up with him if you ever wanted to talk about stuff. He loves working on amps
and is very knowledgeable and as I said extremely opinionated. Hopefully I'm
going to record something with it soon and will show it to anybody I can if that
will help you and help spread the name around. Thanks again for sending it so I
could give it a try - I love the way it sounds.
